I believe I am not the only one who starts the day saying ‘Hey Google! Good Morning’. As we are moving towards technological utopia, human-machine interaction is getting more and more necessary every day. And the NLP is the main if not the only way to make that happen.
If you don’t know what NLP (Natural Language Processing) is a branch of artificial intelligence that helps computers understand and speak human natural languages. The program takes the human words (both voice and text) and then Using a proper algorithm it makes sense of those words. Then the program returns the response through NLP again or performs the task you want it to do, like when Google home greets me back, gives me news and notification updates, and then turn on the light.
Where to Use NLP?
NLP is making its way to everywhere. From clustering comments to advertising and teaching children to healthcare. We can see NLP is making all the impossibles possible.
NLP in Chatbots:
To interact with artificial intelligence our commands go through NLP. Thanks to NLP we now talk to machines instead of typing programs on a black screen, like a couple of decades before. And this advancement allows us to use chatbots in various use. And the improvement is not going to stop.
NLP in Advertising:
Modern advertisements demand a lot of research and tracking the activity of every individual. Like the 90s broadcasting advertise on a few TV channels is not viable anymore, because it’s very expensive and it won’t work, because people have so many options. Clustering comments and reviews are a very common way to learn about buyer’s preferences.
Google Home, Alexa, Siri all are getting in our life as time goes. They do all the simple to complex tasks thanks to the ability to understand us. Voice assistants are on their way to make our life easier and more connected.
NLP in Healthcare:
Health always comes first. From getting medical appointments to raise public awareness we see HealthBots doing everything to serve humanity in the time of need. Soon we might see robodoctors stealing our jobs. Detecting the emerge of seasonal flues is a great advancement that we see in recent years. Also, the situation of pandemic and public health analysis is possible thanks to NLP.
For example, almost 10 days before the World Health Organization (WHO), on 31st December 2019 a Canadian platform, BlueDot noticed the emerging threat in Wuhan, China.
Like said before, in the future, NLP will make things possible which are not imaginable today.
